BoriCuenta

The BoriCuenta 2020 Campaign seeks to engage the Puerto Rican diaspora to support efforts to increase Puerto Rico’s response rate to the 2020 census.  Puerto Ricans helping Puerto Ricans fill out  the census survey via internet or by phone.

The passion and numeric strength of the diaspora powered a historic disaster aid response during the aftermath Hurricane Maria in 2017.  Puerto Ricans across the 50 states spontaneously organized to bring direct help to the victims of the hurricane. BoriCuenta 2020 will reignite the diaspora again to help their families and friends in Puerto Rico complete the census.

Power by National Puerto Rican Agenda (NPRA).

Why did you begin BoriCuenta 2020?

The Puerto Rico response rate is the lowest in the nation at 52.  The national response rate is 64.6

It has been estimated that Puerto Rico has lost over half a million people during the last decade.  It is important that we have an accurate count and understanding of the population for planning purposes, distribution of Federal funds and disaster response.
